Trade of darkness

“Perfection appears to me as the height of inhumanity. Everything human is confusing par excellence”

Fernando Arrabal

The goal of contemporary art is to push to the limit what we could consider the semantic perimeter of everything intelligible and mentionable. It is also defined according to the place it occupies in the system of cultural production. In a similar way, we possess and are deprived of our body, which is at once our own shelter, sustenance and functionality, but which has now, according to Foucault, also become a biopolitical subject. Traditionally intimate activities are transformed into public ones and vice versa. In the minimal silhouette of being, underneath the biological garment, perhaps we could find our last bodily property, an essential me, an individual.

From this perspective Noelia Marín establishes a hybrid dialogue, synchronizing some of the techniques and questions, discourses and semantic fields of different areas that make up her artistic identity.

In this exhibition, the depiction of the artist’s shadow is the core from which the concepts of Being, Death, Birth, Way and Fear all emanate and converge; ideas that are present and capable of creating a solid context to shelter the pieces in the exhibition.

We will see a dialogue that painfully does not speak, but is materialized in the flesh in a weightless toing and froing, an insurmountable vacuum between bodies, identities and the fears that build them up. And they destroy.

Noelia Marín experiments with the possibilities and powers of each medium: her experience in engraving and her habitual interplay with its matrices, the variety of textures within the same expressive intention, the recycling of materials and senses, and finally, the mechanical medium, kinetic art, video projection.

This is an exhibition that invites us to let ourselves be pierced by the other, that reflects on our most intimate identity, that provides us with the possibility of appropriating other people’s fears for a few moments and understanding them as our own. To illuminate this human confusion.
